SME innovative: ICT

The DLR project management agency held a consultation day on the BMBF funding measure “KMU-innovativ: ICT” in digital form (web meeting). Around 60 participants from research-based SMEs and research institutions found out about the goals and content of the measure and about successful project examples. In a virtual panel, those involved in the project and employees of the DLR-PT discussed content-related and formal questions relating to project ideas as well as, among other things, the submission of sketches, the project process and support from DLR-PT .  techqueer

Thank you for the great interest and the active participation in the consultation day! It is planned to continue the format and to continuously align it to the specific consultation needs. Further information will be published in good time.

The IT and communications industry is an important factor in the economy. In the field of ICT, Germany can show excellent research results, but at the same time has untapped potential for implementation in industrial applications and products. The IT industry is particularly characterized by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs): They make up 90% of IT companies in Germany. Thanks to their proximity to customers and their industry focus, they recognize new market requirements early on and can provide specialized products and solutions at short notice. They are the engine of innovation and an important interface for the transfer of research results from science to business.

The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has therefore set up a “fast lane for SMEs” with the funding measure “KMU-innovativ: ICT”. The BMBF is thus making research funding generally simpler, making it more attractive especially for those SMEs that are applying for research funding for the first time. To this end, the application and approval process has been simplified and accelerated, and advisory services for SMEs have been expanded. With this program, SMEs have the opportunity to determine the topics and content of the funded projects themselves. With the help of this funding measure, they should establish themselves in the ICT market and become more competitive. This supports all SMEs that are active in the field of ICT or want to expand and strengthen their business area through the use of ICT.

Please note:

Even in the current situation, the six-month deadlines for submitting sketches remain.
